Most of us are employed.  We know that in addition to earning income, our job provides confidence, self esteem and a purpose in our lives.

National statistics say persons with mental illness have a shocking 90% unemployment rate (SAMHSA).

Vail Place employment staff assists members in develping their resume, finding a job, and also provides ongoing supports so members can keep their jobs.

• Last year, 224 employed members earned over $1.5 million.
• 20 members returned to get their GED or college education to improve their employment prospects.
• Being employed means being on the Road to Recovery

Current employment challenges:

• $75,000 of vocational funding has been lost since July due to funding guideline changes.
• For the last 12 years, this funding covered vocational programming and the salary of one staff.

Current employment need:

• Eliminate the funding gap so that 75 members do not lose the support we provide them to obtain and maintain jobs.
