16th annual Tour de Vail Roll and Stroll a Big Hit in 2017

16th annual Tour de Vail Roll and Stroll a Big Hit in 2017

The annual Tour de Vail Roll and Stroll was a hit in 2017. Approximately 225 people joined us at Crystal Lake in Robbinsdale for our 16th year. Thank you to our sponsors:

  • Optum Health
  • North Memorial
  • Pat Hagen of Ameriprise Financial
  • Schatz Realty, A Fresh Look Painting Company
  • Associated Benefits and Risk.

A special thanks to our Tour de Vail Committee Chair and sponsor Charlene Chmielewski for all her hard work and support of this event.

The entire day was spectacular, from the gorgeous weather to fabulous entertainment from our own band, The Renovators. Even Wonder Woman joined us at this year’s superhero-themed event.

“Having Tour de Vail in the City of Robbinsdale serves as a great introduction to the Vail Place Agency and the wonderful services they offer to their members,” said Vail Place Board Chair Emily Pearl. “Every person is a part of somebody’s recovery journey…and that makes them somebody’s superhero. We are so grateful to the superheroes, especially our fundraising teams, who helped make this year’s Tour de Vail such a success.”

Although this year’s event raised nearly $26,000 to help adults with mental illnesses we didn’t quite meet our goal. Fortunately, you can still donate to Tour de Vail and help our super heroes!

The Minnesota Rollergirls and Robbinsdale Whiz Bang Days royalty kicked off the race, sending participants on their way with cowbells and cheers. Thanks to the marvelous Rollergirls for their enthusiastic greeting at the finish line as well. Afterward participants listened to a presentation that included talks from Vail Place Board Chair Emily Pearl, Tour de Vail Committee Chair Char Chmielewski, and personal stories from Vail Place members Frank and Kevin. Congratulations to all our raffle and costume prize winners also.
