DIEDRICH WEISS is a local songwriter/performer. He wrote Road to Recovery based on interviews with Vail Place members and performed it for the first time at The Dr. Vail Hour, October 13, 2010, at the Metropolitan Ballroom in Golden Valley.
Diedrich's has drawn on his own journey with bipolar disorder to create songs that are very personal, revealing, and inspiring. He is also a music teacher and a dedicated supporter and advocate for the rights of people with mental illness. He volunteers weekly at the psych ward where he admitted himself when he was 19; as a board member for NAMI Minnesota; leading writing workshops for Vail Place members; and speaking frequently before students and others in our community to share his experiences and insights about mental health recovery.
