Volunteer Opportunities at Vail Place!
There are a lot of ways to volunteer at Vail Place. We offer a friendly, casual, low-stress environment. The volunteer jobs we have are listed below. Call Karen at 952-938-9622 x29 for more information, or send an email to .
Craft Leader
Do you have a passion for a craft or skill? Have you always wanted to share your gifts with others? Create your own volunteering experience, and share your passion with the members at Vail Place as a part of our Social/Recreation programs. Whether it's scrapbooking, stamping, creative writing, or what ever you have in mind, we'd love to learn it from you!
General Support Volunteer
Facilitate the operation of Vail Place by freeing staff to spend more time on members' specific needs. This is done by performing routine but vital office work, including updating and maintaining attendance books, acting as a lead to projects underway by the members, answering phones, and filing paperwork under supervision of staff. A perfect way to get on the job experience!
Health and Wellness Educator
Increase members' awareness of their personal health, and improve their knowledge of general health and wellness issues, by conducting a group event such as monthly blood pressure monitoring, group walking, yoga/meditation, etc. Let us know what you can do to help improve the health and wellness of our club members!
League Play Assistant
Ensure that members are able to participate in organized league play, and promote physical activity and recreation while having a good time! All you need is a working knowledge of the rules of the sport in question, a reliable presence on game days, the ability to promote communication among team members, and of course, follow league play rules. Vail Place has won several trophies in the past… could you be the key to our next one?
Informational Fair Attendant
Represent Vail Place to the general public in a positive, enthusiastic, warm, and engaging manner at various civic, educational, public, and private engagements (job fairs, volunteer expos, informational fairs, etc.). This includes setting up/taking down the display materials, answering questions about the programs open to Vail Place Members, Staff, and Volunteers, and distributing information about those programs. You would also debrief for the staff about questions that came up, event attendance, general reception, and other pertinent information. A great way to meet new people, and spread the word about Vail Place!
Lunch Bunch
Add to the health and wellness of members by leading the preparation of a hot, simple, nutritious lunch. You would use our kitchen, with food provided by Vail Place, and work along side members to serve the meal and coordinate cleanup afterwards. This is a great one-shot volunteer opportunity, and is perfect for small groups (no more than four people). Larger groups can split up a whole week!
Personal Errand Assistant
Without reliable transportation, many tasks are harder than need be. Help alleviate that burden by taking members on trips to the grocery store, the mall, or give rides for other personal needs. We provide the van and the gas, you provide the time and personal energy. We do require a clean driving record and a valid driver’s license.
Social Recreation Volunteer
Promote the friendly and engaging social environment of Vail Place, and provide members with experience in one-on-one and group socialization. Whether it’s talking with members in a casual setting, playing games, working a puzzle, or accompanying them on an activity—the goal is to develop genuine relationships with members where there is mutual respect and sharing. What could be easier and more fun than simply making friends!?!
