Hopkins Tobacco Free team envisions a warm and welcoming patio for all

Once the snow melts, and as Vail Place transforms to a totally tobacco-free environment on April 1, Hopkins members plan to hop on plans to transform their Clubhouse patio. The patio can offer so many more opportunities – programmatic, social, recreational – if refurbished and made more adaptable to multiple uses. The Tobacco Free team has put in a lot of time and effort getting input from members, staff and volunteers and doing the research necessary to put together a workable and effective plan, which includes:

  • Making needed repairs to the pergola and giving it a fresh coat of paint.
  • Creating a “green ceiling” of climbing vines that wind and wrap around the pergola structure.
  • Adding planters to expand the garden of annuals, herbs and vegetables.
  • Replacing current furniture with more inviting, versatile pieces.

Of course, there’s a price tag for these upgrades -about $1,200 – but the rewards for our Hopkins Clubhouse community will be priceless.  If you’d like to contribute to the patio refurbishing project, please contact Michael Hofland by email or call him at 952-945-4234.
