Mental Health Day on the Hill 2017

Mental Health Day on the Hill 2017

Vail Place was there for Mental Health Day on the Hill 2017. On Thursday, March 16th, 24 Vail Place members and staff attended this all-day event held at the Minnesota State Capitol along with family members, advocates, and others living with mental illnesses. Sponsored by the Minnesota Mental Health Legislative Network, the purpose of the event each year is to meet with legislators to share important stories surrounding the needs and lives of people living with mental illnesses in our state.

Members and staff met with State Senator Kari Dziedzic, who represents Vail House’s district and State Representative Cheryl Youakim, legislator for Hopkins and St. Louis Park. We were pleased that Sue Abderholden, Executive Director of NAMI Minnesota,  complimented Vail Place for our consistent turnout  in support of all mental health issues, not just those that impact our agency.

Mental Health Day on the Hill is an annual event sponsored by the Mental Health Legislative Network (MHLN) a coalition of 37 organizations dedicated to improving the quality and expanding the availability of mental health services in Minnesota.
