15 May Meet Your 2013 Vail Place Board of Directors
(May 15, 2013) On April 16, 2013, Vail Place held its Annual Meeting and announced several exciting changes to our Board of Directors. This highly talented and committed group of individuals is gearing up for a big year ahead, but first we want to thank our departing Board of Director members for their dedication and support of Vail Place and its members over the years.
Guy Freitag. Guy served on our Vail Place board since 2010. He has been a Vail Place member since 2004 and brought a strong Clubhouse perspective to the Board. Balancing work, school, and his membership at Vail, Guy was able to bring his experience back to the Board, offering unique and creative ideas, particularly on the PR/Marketing committee.
Barbara Shaw. Barbara chaired the Vail Place Board of Directors for the past two years. As a member of our board of directors for the past seven years, Barbara has brought strong leadership, dedicated service, and management expertise to our agency. She served as Vice-Chair for two years and also chaired the Development Committee, during which she played a critical role in introducing and then championing the Benevon model of fundraising. She remained an outspoken proponent of shifting Vail Place’s fundraising, which has given the agency more financial stability to thrive.
Barbara has been a dynamic ambassador for Vail Place. Utilizing her personal corporate connections, bringing opportunities to Vail Place members, such as job interview training and financial literacy classes. Her leadership has seen Vail Place through some critical changes over the years and we can certainly say the agency is better because of her dedication.
This year’s newly elected members and appointed leadership include:
Scott Dorfman. Scott will assume the role of Board Chair upon Barbara’s departure. Scott is an Associate at Fredrikson & Byron and has been a member of the Vail Place Board of Directors since 2008.
Katie Doll. Katie has been elected to Co-Vice Chair and has been as member of the Board since 2011. Katie is the National Vice President of Payer Solutions for OptumHealth.
Emily Pearl. Emily has been elected to Co-Vice Chair and has been a member of the Board since 2010. Emily is a Customer Experience Marketing Consultant for Xcel Energy.
Eric Haddenhorst. Eric joins the Board this year with a strong financial background as an analyst for Norwest Equity Partners.
Debbie Lance. Debbie is the Executive Vice President and Managing Director for Wahlstrom Interpublic Group and comes to the Board this year with great marketing and advertising experience.
Rob Marlotte. Rob is the Corporate Development Director for Ameripride Services and joins the Board this year with extensive experiences, especially in strategic planning initiatives.
Susan Sutton. Susan is a Staff Accountant for Nonprofit Solutions and joins the Board this year with a great financial and investment background.
Desi Heaven. Desi has been a member at Hopkins Vail Place for more than five years and joins the Board this year with loads of energy and a unique perspective on increasing member involvement.
Greg Tyler. Greg has been a member at Hopkins Vail Place for more than 17 years and joins the Board this year with a focus on our Case Management program and has a passion for Vail Place’s critical work in the legislative sector.
