Vail House is rich in history and providing hope…..
Vail House is Vail Place’s 24/7 recovery-based board and lodge program that offers specialized services to qualified adults. Vail House is more than just a place to live with programming provided that assists residents in finding and maintaining stable housing, secure mental health and/or chemical dependency recovery support, expanding employment, educational and vocational opportunities, and successfully integrating with community life. Along with this, we provide medication monitoring, social & recreational opportunities, and assistance with transportation. Read more here.
The support and services that are offered at Vail House are based on statement of need completed by our residents which include the following four areas:
- Tenancy support to assist an individual with finding their own home, landlord negotiation, securing furniture and household supplies, understanding, and maintaining tenant responsibilities, conflict negotiation, and budgeting and financial education.
- Supportive services to assist with basic living and social skills, household management, monitoring of overall well-being, and problem solving.
- Employment support to assist with maintaining or increasing employment, increasing earnings, understanding, and utilizing appropriate benefits and services, improving physical or mental health, moving toward self-sufficiency, and achieving personal goals.
- Health supervision services to assist in the preparation and administration of medications other than injectables, the provision of therapeutic diets, taking vital signs, or aiding in dressing, grooming, bathing, or with walking devices.
What makes Vail House unique and sets it apart from other programs of this nature is that it provides structured supports, the house is entirely sober with a focus on health and recovery, while providing support and resources. Throughout the pandemic Vail House Team were dedicated to provide support based on each resident’s individual needs.
As Vail House is celebrating it’s 6th year as a program here at Vail Place, we celebrate its origin as a program of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Staff and residents of Vail House are thankful for the continued support and partnership with our friends at St. Frances Cabrini and their continued generosity. All year long, the Church keeps residents in their thoughts – most recently, donating handmade quilts and gift cards during December 2021.
