Sandra Smith: Speaking at the Employment Dinner

Sandra Smith: Speaking at the Employment Dinner

By Sandra Smith, Vail Place member

During a recent meeting with Vail Place’s Employment Specialist Lynda Yankovich we discussed how the book The Orange Frog and coaching CD Broadcasting Happiness have helped me better deal with stress-related issues at work. Lynda asked me if I would consider speaking at an upcoming employment dinner celebration about how these resources have helped me.

I am not a public speaker, but felt the book and CD were worth sharing with the Vail Place community. I told the group how listening to the CD set (to and from work) helped me learn new skills.  I then put into action those learned techniques at my job.

The Orange Frog book helped me view myself more positively,  and I felt that others with disabilities may find the book helpful as well. Since reading is part of my disability, I appreciated that the format was easy to read and understand. The pictures and explanations were beneficial as well.

After watching the Broadcasting Happiness videos, I gained ideas on how to share this important subject with the group at the dinner. Everyone said that they really enjoyed my presentation of this information, which I was glad to hear!
